Swift began dating Alwyn, an actor seen in a number of film and television projects including 2018’s The Favourite and 2022’s Conversations With Friends, in 2016.
“What I’ve learned is that people think that in this case, it’s up for discussion and our relationship isn’t up for discussion,” Swift told the Guardian in 2019 of her decision to be cautious about their relationship. “If you and I had a glass of wine right now, we’d talk about it – but it’s just going out into the world. That’s where the limit is, and that’s where my life becomes manageable. I really want it to feel manageable. “Show Changes
The pair also began collaborating on music together over the pandemic, culminating in a Grammy Awards win. 2020 sister albums Folklore and Evermore each included collaborations with Alwyn, who wrote several songs under the pseudonym William Bowery. Folklore ended up taking home the 2021 Grammy for album of the year and Evermore was nominated for the same award at the 2022 ceremony.
During her acceptance speech, Swift gave a shout-out to the actor.
“Joe is the first person that I play every single song that I write, and I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine,” she said.
Swift is currently on her Eras Tour, which next stops in Tampa, Florida, for a trio of stadium shows from April 13-15. Alwyn is set to appear in the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos film And, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons, Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley and Hong Chau.
